Kathleen A. Piperno  
 
Kathleen A. Piperno was named partner in the Firm in 2006. She focuses her practice in the areas of family law (divorce, property distribution, support, custody, pre-nuptial agreements), adoption, step-parent adoption, and termination of parental rights. She is a member of and serves as an Arbitrator for the Delaware County Bar Association. She serves as a Special Master in Divorce for The Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County.

Raised in Philadelphia, Kathy graduated from Robert E. Lamberton High School in 1982 and was a member of the National Honor Society. She was an officer of student government. Kathy then attended Harcum Junior College and earned an Associates Degree in Retail Merchandising in 1984. After a successful career in retail merchandising, Kathy enrolled in Golden Gate University in San Francisco and earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business and Humanities in 1991. In 1992 Kathy attended Widener University School of Law in the 4-year evening program where she was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and President of the Justinian Society. She earned a Juris Doctor in 1996.

After practicing as a personal injury attorney, Kathy became an Assistant Public Defender for the County of Delaware in 1999 and subsequently joined The Firm in 2002. She became an adjunct professor at Widener University School of Law – Legal Education Institute in 2007 where she teaches “Family Law” and “Violence and The Law”. She is married and is the mother of one child. Kathy has led the Firm to focus upon and to contribute to children’s charities.

In 2010, Kathy assisted The Family Law Section in a fundraising event to benefit The Domestic Abuse Project and received The Delaware County Twenty-Ninth Annual Victims Rights Week Award on behalf of The Section. Kathy was appointed to the Board of Directors of The Domestic Abuse Project in 2010 arising from her fundraising events for the benefit of abused women and children.

Kathy will serve as the Chairperson of The Family Law Section of the Delaware County Bar Association in 2012.
